Our amazing sense of smell is more than just a physical function, it can transport us to a memory of another place or time, and even to another mood. Through it, we can interpret many thousands of aromas, often in an instant and it affects us all the time and yet somehow we hardly ever notice it.

How the sense of smell works:

When we breathe in, air carrying thousands of aromatic particles is drawn up the nostrils. At the back of the nasal cavity is the olfactory nerve which is the open gate to the brain via the nose. The cells called the smell receptors, trap the aromatic molecules and then send out tiny impulses into and along nerve fibers, which end in the center of the brain where we interpret smell. This whole process takes under two seconds. Once the brain has received repeated impulses of the same smell, it switches off its response, which is why we stop noticing a smell after a while but the healing power of the Essential Oil goes on.

The healing power of Essential Oil is to strengthen the body, and the body will do the healing since our body has its own healing power. It will also aid our system in maintaining its Homeostasis, where everything is in balance which makes us a healthy individual.
